Canadian astronaut, International Space Station commander and Twitter fan Chris Hadfield brought St. Patrick’s Day cheer to space today with his own spirited rendition of “Danny Boy.”
Hadfield tweeted a link to Soundchris hCloud where he posted audio of himself singing the famous Irish ballad.
“Danny Boy” is usually associated with North American Irish communities. According to Statistics Canada, people of Irish heritage are the 4th largest group in Canada, with 14 per cent of Canadian residents identifying themselves as having full or partial Irish heritage.
Hadfield’s SoundCloud link also features a picture of the astronaut donning a festive green bowtie.
In usual fashion, Hadfield tweeted out pictures of Ireland he took from the ISS, including a photo of Donegal, which he said is “one of the many famous places I’ve only seen from space.”
