A U.S. man is thanking Facebook from the bottom of his heart after the social networking giant helped him re-live some of his son's special moments.
John Berlin made a desperate plea to Facebook to allow him to see his dead son's Facebook "look back" video – a customized video that marks its users' most-liked posts and photos. The videos were rolled out last week as part of Facebook's 10-year anniversary.
Berlin's son Jesse died two years ago at the age of 21 of natural causes.
"You ever do something crazy because you just don't know what to do anymore? Well, that's what I'm doing right now," Berlin said in his video plea posted to YouTube last week.
A tearful Berlin said he was "calling out" Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to help him access Jesse's 60-second video.
"I know it's a shot in the dark, but I don't care," he said. "I want to see my son's video. His name's Jesse Berlin. So please help me."
The video went viral, amassing more than two million views, and it quickly caught the attention of Facebook staff, who granted Berlin's wish.
Berlin received his son's look back video on Thursday.
"First of all I just want to thank everyone for all the shares and support," Berlin wrote on his Facebook page on Friday, announcing the release of the video. "We couldn't have done this without you. This is the official Facebook video of my son Jesse Berlin."
In another post Berlin wrote: "From the bottom of my heart and everything that I am, I thank you Facebook."
