A principal of two schools in the GTA made a brief court appearance Thursday on allegations of choking a young boy and throwing human excrement at another.

Maria Pantalone, 50, arrived at the Old City Hall courts to hear her case will be adjourned until April 2. The educator was expected to enter a plea, but failed to do so on Thursday.

Pantalone is the sister of Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone and head of both the Keele Street Public and Mountainview Alternative schools -- which operate out of the same building at Bloor and Keele streets.

Police have released few details surrounding the circumstances leading up to Pantalone's arrest on June 30, but it has been reported the charges stem from an incident which took place in the city's west end.

Pantalone allegedly assaulted the two boys, ages 10 and 11, in an attempt to discipline them. However, reports say the boys were not students at either school in which Pantalone was an administrator.

Besides her suspension, Pantalone was also forced to sign a release, which forbids her to have any unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16.
