On Friday, May 25 from 7 – 9 a.m. ET on CTV, Canada AM devoted the morning to "Be A Donor", a two-hour special featuring the first post-surgery, one-on-one TV interview with Canadian organ donor advocate and recent transplant recipient Hélène Campbell.
The 21-year-old Ottawa native, who underwent a double lung transplant last month, spoke to CANADA AM's Beverly Thomson about how she is doing since her dream of receiving a pair of new lungs became a reality.
As a complement to the television special, CanadaAM.CTV.ca hosted a live chat from 7-9 a.m. ET on the latest organ transplant research and the ABCs of becoming a donor.
Special guests who joined the live chat included:
- Versha Prakash, Vice-President of Operations for the Trillium Gift of Life Network.
- Dr. Gary Levy, the medical director of Canada's largest transplant program based out of the University Health Network's Toronto General Hospital.
