Sen. Pamela Wallin is being asked to pay back an additional $17,600 in questionable expenses highlighted by an independent audit, the Senate announced Wednesday, bringing her total bill to $138,969.

In documents released last week, Deloitte auditors said Wallin should repay $121,348 in invalid expense claims.

But they deemed $20,978 that Wallin spent on travel and “networking” events were “subject to interpretation” by the Senate.

The Senate’s internal economy committee said Wednesday it has completed its review of those expenses and concluded that Wallin must pay back an additional $17,621.

Wallin has already repaid $38,369, so she owes the outstanding balance. Her audit, which cost almost $127,000, has been referred to the RCMP.
