EDMONTON - Alberta Liberal Leader Raj Sherman says the public needs to know more details about an RCMP investigation into former premier Alison Redford.

Sherman says it's important to know if current legislature members are being investigated as well.

If so, he says, Premier Jim Prentice must ask them to leave the government caucus until the probe is complete.

A spokeswoman for Alberta's RCMP confirms that a review of an auditor general's report into Redford's spending has now escalated into an investigation.

RCMP Sgt. Josee Valiquette declined to divulge any other information.

In August, auditor general Merwan Saher said he found examples of inappropriate spending by Redford and her team on government planes and travel.
