OTTAWA -- NDP Leader Tom Mulcair will launch a last-ditch effort to ratchet up the heat over the Harper government's Elections Act reform legislation.
For the past two weeks, the New Democrats have railed against Bill C-23, and urged individual Conservative MPs to vote against what they've dubbed the Unfair Elections Act.
Today, Mulcair will hold a news conference to denounce it once more, despite a list of amendments having been made to the proposed law.
Here are some other happenings expected today around Ottawa:
-- The Canadian War Museum will be the backdrop to an announcement by Heritage Minister Shelly Glover and Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird. They'll be at the museum to announce the winner of the National Holocaust Monument design competition;
-- Citizenship and Immigration Minister Chris Alexander will be at the Senate languages committee to discuss the impacts of recent changes to the immigration system on official language minority communities;
-- And the Senate defence committee will hear witnesses on a range of issues including ballistic missile defence, the Canada Border Services Agency, and Bill C-31, the federal budget legislation tabled in February.
