HALIFAX - The driver of a car is in custody after leading police on a two-hour chase on several highways around the Halifax area.

Police say the incident began today around 3:40 a.m. after a complaint of a car that had gone over an embankment in Dartmouth.

Police later found the car on Highway 118 and pursued the vehicle through Dartmouth, Fall River, Bedford and Tantallon.

The pursuit continued on Highway 102 with police blocking exits in order to keep the vehicle on the highway.

Finally, around 5:50 a.m., police positioned their vehicles in front of the car, forcing it to stop.

The driver will appear in court today on charges of dangerous driving and flight from police.
