Truck fire closes westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 near Gananoque, Ont. for 5 hours

A transport truck fire forced the closure of the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Gananoque, Ont. for nearly five hours Saturday afternoon.

Photos sent to CTV News Ottawa showed the trailer fully engulfed in flames on the side of the highway just before 1 p.m. The truck was disconnected from the trailer and parked a few metres up the road.

Ontario Provincial Police closed the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 between Reynolds Road and Stone Street North due to the fire and the cleanup.

The highway reopened at 5:45 p.m.

No injuries have been reported.
