An evening fire at a home in Orléans started in a vehicle parked in the garage, according to Ottawa Fire Services. Several people called 9-1-1 just before 6 p.m. Tuesday reporting a vehicle on fire inside the attached garage of a single-family home on Boisfranc Circle. Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Nick Defazio said heavy smoke and flames were coming from the garage when firefighters arrived on the scene. “Crews launched an aggressive attack, quickly advancing a hose line toward the garage to contain the fire,” Defazio said. “At the same time, a second team entered the home and assisted several occupants with evacuating safely. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.” Firefighters pulled down drywall and insulation in the garage to ensure the fire did not spread, and to fully extinguish any hot spots. The vehicle was removed from the garage using a winch, and high-powered fans were used to ventilate residual smoke from the home. Defazio said the residents of the home will not be displaced following the fire.
