NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - One of three men charged with murdering a Mission, B.C., couple in their home has suddenly pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Jack Woodruff admitted in a New Westminster court Monday that he killed Lisa Dudley and her boyfriend Guthrie McKay in September 2008.

Mounties have been heavily criticized for the initial investigation into the murders because an officer sent to the scene to investigate shots fired didn't get out of his vehicle.

The pair was found four days after the initial 911 complaint and Dudley was still alive, but died on the way to hospital.

Insp. Kevin Hackett of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Woodruff took responsibility for his actions and recognized the devastation he caused to the lives of two families.

No trial date has been set yet for Bruce Main and Justin MacKinnon, who still face two counts each of first-degree murder in connection to the deaths.
