The biggest entertainment event to hit Toronto begins today and I'm very excited to embark on this adventure. "eTalk" is uniting forces with all of the CTV entities and this is going to be big. I've got a long day ahead of me from 8:30 a.m. to midnight!

When I look back at last year's TIFF there were plenty of memorable moments for me.

A big one is being kissed by Borat, and admired for my "nice chocolate skin", moments before the screening at the Ryerson Theatre where the film broke down. Thinking back, the abrupt ending sounds like a stunt to me...and it's on the DVD extras for the movie (apparently, you can catch Ben Mulroney and his brother hastily exiting the theatre if you watch attentively!).

An awkward convo with Michael Moore

That same very red carpet brought on awkward conversation with Michael Moore (which I intend to redeem myself with later this week) and my infamous "Tiff at TIFF" with Isla Fisher, where I thought I was being funny, she thought I wasn't...and then two days later gave me a hard time in the interview with Jason Biggs...only to give me a big hug at the end and say...

"We're even now"! (The best part of that was going to a club with Lainey that night and seeing Jason Biggs - who was partying with his PARENTS!!! - and him laughingly telling me that the interview did not go well. Except when I watch it, I'd say it was pretty funny. And even better...to this day when Isla sees me, she's says "I know you..." but not exactly sure from where. Phew!)

More red carpet hijinx came from Lance Bass and then Reichen Lemkuhl. If you recall, Lance was saying that he was in town discussing film projects. Which doesn't really make sense why he was hitting every party and red carpet. I guess that is integral to the movie pitching process these days, no? I wonder what came of said 'discussions'.

Anyhow, when I was chatting them up on the red carpet for the Entertainment Weekly party, their then-nemesis Perez Hilton (who 'out'ed Lance on his website and attacks Reichen all the time) was hovering in the background on the patio of FLOW, where the event was being held. I hadn't met Perez yet, so I didn't go with the impulse to call him over and have the three of them hash it out for a little 'eTalk exclusive'. Alas.

Later, inside the party, I was walking around and saw Patrick Wilson, who was in Toronto supporting "Little Children" in which he starred opposite Kate Winslet. I sometimes forget just because I've seen their films, and done all this research on them and know all these things about someone it doesn't mean that THEY know ANYTHING about me.

This was one of these moments. Patrick Wilson was coming down the stairs as I was going up, and when I saw him and said "Hey Patrick! Great job on your movie!" and he looked at me with a look of confusion mixed with indifference and semi-gratitude/acknowledgement.

I was mildly mortified and rushed off to the bar for a drink. Funny thing is, a couple of days later when I sat down to interview him and Kate, he says "I know you from somewhere." And I say, "Yes, we were at the Entertainment Weekly party." Patrick nods in agreement, "Yes, yes. Right." And I left it at that!

More party fun came at the Star! Schmooze where I chatted with the cast of "Everything's Gone Green" which made my interviews with them the next day so much more fun, giving me the liberty to tease Steph Song about all the scantily clad covershoots she's done and what her father may think of them.

The Red Carpet is always a situation

It involves a whole lot of waiting around. And waiting around. And, yes...more waiting around. And then a fancy black car will arrive. The adrenaline surges, and this is my chance to land that one question that will catch the star in a candid moment.

Love it! Jude Law, Reese Witherspoon, Penelope Cruz were just some of the ones I caught. I had to team up with CTV News' Andria Case to catch the Dixie Chicks who scooted past me from my position on the red carpet, but when I jumped into Andria's spot, I got the Chicks and they recalled when I interviewed them earlier that year giving them little rubber duckies glued to Dixie Cups (my craft project homage of 'Dixie Chicks').

I then chastised them for not putting me in their documentary as one of their producers had asked me to sign a waiver. They obligingly said if it were up to them, they would have. So nice of them to play along and appease me!

Parties, parties, parties and more parties

When it came to the parties I tried to go to every single one I could...it was my first festival and I went a little overboard! From chatting with Shawn Ashmore at the Holt Renfrew Party to catching Brittany Murphy dancing up a storm at the V lounge or helping Samuel L. Jackson line up the ladies and challenging Kevin Costner to a serious conversation with some tough, thought provoking questions at the Hello! party, I was having the best time.

Who needs sleep?

Didn't sleep very much, but it was pretty amazing. This time around, I'm holding down the fort at the "eTalk" Lounge at the Intercontinental Hotel doing many interviews with artists who were involved with some of the great films at the Fest. Yes, actual movie interviews!

All this in addition to all the parties and red carpets, so I am going to make sure I'm armed with some snacks, a 2L bottle of water, a notebook, and a digital camera - take naps when I can, and eat frequently, and throw some yoga in there. I've got to keep my sanity as I take on the TIFF INSANITY...and I'll keep you posted on all my e-dventures.
