Well-known television anchor, reporter and radio personality Brad Giffen has been in the news business for over 25 years recently returning to the Canadian airwaves in 2008 after 15 successful years a news anchor in the United States.
Prior to anchoring the news at CTV News Channel, Giffen spent five years as a reporter and co-anchor of the evening news at the local ABC News affiliate in Sarasota, Florida. Before moving to Florida, Giffen anchored the evening news for ABC News in New Orleans, Louisiana where the Louisiana Broadcaster's Association honored him with an award for "Best Newscast with Special Distinction." While in New Orleans, Giffen also hosted and produced ABC26 NEWS THIS WEEK, a Sunday morning public affairs program.
In 1993, Giffen moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he anchored the news for the local Fox station, earning the "Best In-Depth News Reporting" award from the Utah Broadcaster's Association. Having worked in a variety of diverse communities, Giffen has reported on a wide range of events, from the Sundance Film Festival to high mountain cattle drives, summertime droughts, and hurricanes hitting the Florida coast.
Before his move to the United States, Giffen was a familiar face for many Canadians having begun his television at broadcasting career at CityTV and CHUM FM Radio in Toronto.
A graduate of the Poynter Institute for Advanced Journalism Study, Giffen is also a trained volunteer for Sarasota's Whale and Dolphin Hospital. Giffen has two children and spends his free time skiing, kayaking and learning how to salsa dance.
