The westbound lanes of the Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge have been reopened after a truck fire on Highway 40 forced an overnight closure. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the incident happened at 11 p.m. near Kilometre 37 at the western tip of Montreal towards Vaudreuil-Dorion. The heavy truck was pulling two cisterns at the time of the fire, but the SQ could not say what was being transported. Firefighters were called to quickly control the blaze, but the area remained closed to traffic for hours before reopening just before 9 a.m. An investigation is underway.
