Early Monday morning, Quebec provincial police (SQ) divers found the body of the man in his 20s who drowned in the Lake of Two Mountains on Sunday. SQ spokesperson Kim Cormier said that the victim was recovered around 1:30 a.m. and transported to the hospital, where his death was confirmed. The coroner confirmed his death by drowning. An SQ investigation is ongoing about the causes and circumstances leading to the man’s death. The SQ were called around 4 p.m. on Sunday about a person in distress on the lake. Investigators found that a woman and a man drifted toward a deeper section of the area near the Oka Park nude beach, which is unsupervised. SQ spokesperson Geneviève Bruneau said on Sunday that the woman tried to help her friend but was unable to and was rescued by two people in a boat. “The man, however, reportedly sank into the water and did not resurface,” said Bruneau.
