A four-alarm fire at an auto-recycling centre was finally put out Sunday afternoon in Laval. According to Laval police (SPL), a 911 call reporting the fire was received at 11:50 p.m. Saturday at Pièces d’auto Mondiale on Montée Masson, in the city’s Saint-François district. Given the intensity of the blaze, firefighters from neighbouring municipalities were called in to assist. A large plume of smoke could reportedly be seen for kilometres. Although authorities said the fire was under control, crews remained on scene battling hot spots on Sunday morning. The building is a total loss. No injuries were reported. Laval police were also on site, helping with traffic control.
