A 10-month-old girl was rescued by the Turkish Coast Guard on Saturday after she drifted nearly a kilometre out to sea in an inflatable crib.

According to reports, her parents were visiting a beach in Ayvacik, about 400 kilometres southwest of Istanbul, at the time of the incident. They said they forgot they had left their daughter in the floatation device and did not realize that she had drifted away.

Other beachgoers informed the parents that their child had been carried away from the shore.

After she was rescued, the child was returned to her mother.
