Nintendo's miniature retro console for 2017, the SNES Classic Mini, arrives from Sept. 29 with a $99.99 price tag in Canada and 21 games, including "Super Mario World," "Donkey Kong Country," "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," "Super Mario Kart," "F-ZERO" and "Yoshi's Island."

Three separate editions of the SNES Classic Mini are being released towards the end of 2017. No details have been released yet on where to pre-order the consoles, or when pre-orders will be available.

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition, or SNES Classic Edition, is set for North America from Sept. 29.

With a rectangular shape and grey and purple colour scheme, the microconsole contains 21 games from the 1990s.

In Europe, it launches as the Nintendo Classic Mini Super Nintendo Entertainment System, or SNES Classic Mini for short, with an identical roster of games.

Those are "Contra III: The Alien Wars," "Donkey Kong Country," "EarthBound," "Final Fantasy III," "F-ZERO," "Kirby Super Star," "Kirby's Dream Course," "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," "Mega Man X," "Secret of Mana," "Star Fox," "Star Fox 2," "Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting," "Super Castlevania IV," "Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts," "Super Mario Kart," "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars," "Super Mario World," "Super Metroid," "Super Punch-Out!!," and "Yoshi's Island."

"Star Fox 2" will be made available for the first time, having been canceled in 1995 when focus shifted to Nintendo's next console, the Nintendo 64, which received "Star Fox 64" instead.

Unofficial pre-release copies of a near-complete "Star Fox 2" had been in circulation among fan and hacking communities since 2004. On the Mini SNES, players will be able to unlock it simply by completing the first level of "Star Fox."

Japan receives the Nintendo Classic Mini Super Famicom from October for ¥7,980 on October 5.

Five of its 21 games are regional exclusives.

It contains "Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem," "The Legend of Mystical Ninja," "Panel de Pon," "Super Soccer," and "Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers" in place of "Earthbound," "Kirby's Dream Course," "Street Fighter 2' Turbo: Hyper Fighting," "Super Castlevania 4," and "Super Punch-Out!!."

Both the European and Japanese SNES Classics feature a more rounded, soap-bar design, just as those regions' original SNES consoles did.

All three come with two controllers, an HDMI cable, and a USB cable (but not a power pack, which is sold separately.)

The SNES Classic follows on from 2016's limited-run mini NES which was pulled from production in April 2017.
