A pair of Saskatoon entrepreneurs is hoping to make hunting for odd jobs a whole lot easier.

Wale Agoro and Sage Nyong launched the app Odd Jobs in June to help users find opportunities for a quick pay day.

After moving from Nigeria to Saskatoon, the pair struggled to find employment opportunities that could help supplement their regular paycheques.

"Work wasn't that easy to find, wasn't that easy to come by and wasn't really forthcoming," Agoro, co-founder of Odd Jobs, told CTV Saskatoon.

So they decided to try and make life easier for other job hunters by creating the app. The software allows employees to post jobs and any relevant details, such as the type of work involved, where it's located, the salary and when it needs to be done.

"It doesn't matter, wherever you are if you post job anyone around your location that is using the app will be notified (and) will see 'Oh, there's a job there.' And they'll contact you and they'll get it done," said Nyong, who is the company's CEO.

The company says they have simplified the job-hunting process by removing the middle man that is used by many other job services. The app is open to job seekers and employers across the world.

Agoro says that he hopes the app can help people earn some extra money on the side to help them get by.

"I can have a full-time job but still want to keep my paycheque because probably I overspent, or I went on vacation and now I need to make that money back," said Agoro.

Although the app only launched near the end of June, Agoro and Nyong say they've seen its popularity surge, with some jobs getting snatched up in a matter of hours. And even though Odd Jobs is their first dip into the app market, they're hoping there will be more to come.

"If you can make something simply, why not make it simple?" said Nyong.
