PORT HAWKESBURY, N.S. - A Nova Scotia man has been sentenced to four years in prison for sex offences against boys that date back to the 1970s.

Sixty-seven-year-old Ernest Fenwick MacIntosh was found guilty in July on 13 of 26 charges of gross indecency and indecent assault involving two boys.

Victims said during the trial that the abuse occurred in MacIntosh's vehicles and other locations in Cape Breton prior to 1974.

The charges against MacIntosh go back 15 years in a case that required extradition from India in 2007.

During today's hearing in Nova Scotia Supreme Court, MacIntosh testified that he has already served over a year in harsh conditions at the Burnside jail in Halifax and that he was recently beaten up by two other prisoners.

The judge sentenced to MacIntosh to four years in prison but gave him credit for two years time served.
