Among the first flurry of trailers out of San Diego Comic-Con 2017, "Bright" sees a magic wand wreak havoc in modern-day Los Angeles, machines prepare to battle monsters in "Pacific Rim: Uprising," a lost notebook wields power over the living in "Death Note," sharp-witted and sharply dressed spies do battle in "Kingsman: The Golden Circle," superheroes square off over their territory in "The Defenders," and Superman's origin story is to be told in "Krypton."

"Bright": Will Smith as a Los Angeles police officer on an Earth where orcs, elves and fairies live alongside regular humans, though not in harmony. Everything gets thrown into chaos when a wish-granting piece of nuclear weaponry shows up. Due December 22 on Netflix.

"Pacific Rim: Uprising": Masquerading as a recruitment video for a human-robot fighting force, this video offers a chance to see John Boyega as Jake Pentecost, son of the first film's self-sacrificing leader Stacker (played by Idris Elba), and hear Ellen McLain (video game "Portal") as giant defense machine Gypsy Danger. In theaters February 2018.

"Death Note": Light Turner (Nat Wolff, "Paper Towns") discovers a notebook with the power over life and death, and starts using it to eradicate all crime -- or so he thinks. Mia Sutton and eight-foot-tall demon Ryuk egg him on, while L (Lakieth Stanfield, "Straight Outta Compton") attempts to stop the madness. August 23 on Netflix. A general trailer gave way to an early encounter between Light and Ryuk.

"Kingsman": The Golden Circle": Relocating to the US after the Kingsman organization's UK operation was destroyed, Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Harry (Colin Firth) join up with Ginger (Halle Berry) and Tequila (Channing Tatum) in taking on new menace Poppy (Julianne Moore). In theaters from September 22. A second trailer is accompanied by an animated crossover skit featuring Archer.

"The Defenders": An introductory voiceover from Marvel Comics CEO Stan Lee makes way for the premise of "The Defenders" as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist team up to fight crime together, before a cameo from new character The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), whose series is due on Netflix later in 2017.

"Krypton": Serialized origin story for the "Superman" franchise, with Cameron Cuffe of "Florence Foster Jenkins" and "The Halcyon" as Superman's grandfather during a time when the family has been dishonored but the planet Krypton is in dire straits. Due 2018 on SyFy.
