Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox joined forces for a 'Friends' reunion Wednesday night.

The three female protagonists performed a sketch together on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' after the host professed his love for the cult comedy and then surprised Aniston – who played Rachel Green in the programme - with a script and unveiled a recreation of the iconic 'Friends' kitchen.

Kimmel asked her: "I loved the show so much I actually wrote some fan fiction … I wrote myself into it as Ross. I was wondering if you would do a scene from it with me?"

After begrudgingly accepting to read through the script opposite Kimmel, the 45-year-old actress looked unimpressed when presented with a brunette wig similar to her character's hairstyle and she refused to wear it, protesting: "I've got boundaries!"

As the scene progressed, co-stars Kudrow (Phoebe Buffay) and Cox (Monica Geller) joined the reluctant actress – who is engaged to actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux – in reading the script which included the lines to the 'I'll Be There For You' theme tune.

The scene has excited fans who are keen for a full cast reunion to mark the 20th anniversary of the show next month, which is being commemorated by the opening of a replica Central Perk coffee shop in New York.
