It was a beautiful day to take the subway in New York City on Tuesday, when Irish rockers U2 donned disguises to play a surprise show for commuters at Grand Central Station.

Bono, Edge and crew joined "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon in shabby, busker-style clothing on a bustling subway platform Tuesday. They started their performance wearing fake beards and hair, but eventually shed the disguises and launched into a sing-along rendition of "Angel of Harlem." The Edge and Adam Clayton played acoustic guitars, while Larry Mullen Jr. kept the beat on upside-down buckets.

Bono wore a blue cowboy hat, a faux shearling coat and sunglasses (of course).

Earlier in the week, Fallon and Bono were spotted filming a re-creation of Bono's 2014 bike accident for a skit expected to appear on the show Friday. A Bono stunt dummy was also spotted at the scene.

The actual accident left Bono with significant injuries, including several breaks in his arm and shoulder. He was forced to cancel several appearances while he recovered.

The band is slated to kick off its next tour with a performance in Vancouver on May 14.
