A seventh juror has been selected in the trial of accused killer Luka Magnotta.

The latest juror is male university professor. Earlier Wednesday, a female juror who said it’s her “duty” to serve was sworn in. There are now four women and three men on the jury.

Ten potential jurors appeared at the Montreal courthouse Wednesday morning. However, all but one were dismissed, CTV Montreal’s Stephane Giroux reported.

The female juror selected Wednesday is “fully bilingual, educated (and) well-read,” Giroux tweeted from inside court.

“Says she can serve ‘because it’s a duty,’” Giroux tweeted. “And can stomach evidence.”

Magnotta faces five charges in the gruesome murder and dismemberment of Chinese student Lin Jun in May, 2012, including first-degree murder and indignity to human remains.

Jury selection got underway last week, with two weeks set aside for the process to be completed.

“They want people who co-operate but not people who are just there for the show,” Giroux reported. “So it’s a very thorough process.”

To meet the deadline, five more jurors have to be chosen by end-of-day Friday, in addition to four alternates.

Two alternates will hear all of the evidence in case any of the 12 jurors cannot serve until the end of the trial. Two other alternates are being chosen in case a juror has to drop out between the time jury selection is complete and the trial begins.
