A Hamilton-area forensics expert testifying in the trial for two men accused of killing Tim Bosma said she found a fingerprint on the victim's truck that matched the print of one of the suspects.

Halton Regional Police Det. Const. Colleen O'Rourke said a fingerprint was lifted from one of the doors on Bosma's truck during the investigation into his death.

O'Rourke told the court Wednesday that the surface of the door was smooth, and was a good place to lift a clear print. The fingerprint matched the ridges and lines seen in suspect Dellen Millard's left ring finger, O'Rourke said.

She detailed the ridges that matched, as Millard yawned and shut his eyes in court.

O’Rourke testified that, in her opinion, the print taken from Bosma’s truck was “authored by Dellen Millard.”

O'Rourke took the stand after the court heard from two Hamilton police officers who were involved in the escort of the truck, and the trailer it was found in.

Det. Const. Brent Gibson told the jury that the truck was found inside a trailer registered to Millard Air, which was parked in the driveway of a Kleinburg, Ont. home. The home belonged to Millard's mother.

Mark Smich has also been accused of first-degree murder in Bosma's death. Both men have pleaded not guilty.

Gibson told the court that he found the truck and trailer being guarded by York Regional Police. Officers told Gibson to speak with Millard's mother's neighbours, who provided him with security camera footage.

He said the video was captured at the neighbour's home, and showed the trailer being pulled past the home at 10:30 p.m. on May 9, 2013. Bosma was reported missing three days earlier.

Gibson said he put a seal on the trailer, then locked the truck inside. He then escorted a tow truck pulling the trailer to a Hamilton towing facility.

Det. Const. Lauren Troubridge testified after Gibson, describing her escort of the truck and trailer. Troubridge followed the tow truck transporting Bosma's truck from Hamilton to an OPP forensics lab in Tillsonburg, Ont., on May 14, 2013.

Troubridge told the court that the trailer doors flew open on the highway, and a cardboard box fell out of the truck. She hit the box with her police cruiser, then flagged the driver towing the trailer, signalling for him to pull over.

She said the trailer had a padlock on its doors, but the lock didn't work.

On cross-examination, Troubridge said she didn't take steps to ensure that the door was locked before leaving the Hamilton towing facility.

She said she understood the importance of preserving the evidence for forensic examination. She was also concerned at the time that the trailer was unprotected with a lock that didn't work.

Earlier this week, Gibson's colleagues testified about the search of the trailer, as they looked for signs of the missing man.

The Crown alleges that Bosma was killed inside his truck after taking Millard and Smich for a test drive in the truck. Bosma's body was later found burned beyond recognition.

Court wrapped up at approximately 4 p.m.
