He has been a bachelor for all his 84 years, but a 15-minute wait for official matrimony seemed like an eternity.

As Tim Dawson held hands with his bride-to-be, 80-year-old Kathleen Reynolds, under a flowered canopy, he couldn't help but steal a kiss.

The two seniors tied the knot at the Leacock Care Centre in Orillia, Ont. on Sunday.

The pair met and fell in love last spring when Reynolds moved into the retirement facility.

"That's the one I was looking for," Dawson said in an interview with CTV Barrie. "That's her, Kathleen."

And Reynolds, who was a widow, shares the same feelings.

"He is a very handsome man, he is a dear little fellow, he is very loving, he is very kind and we get along very well," said Reynolds.

And while Dawson was a "bit" nervous on Sunday – like most grooms – he had previously told staff at the care centre that he was tired of being a single heart and wanted to share the rest of his life with Reynolds.

"The whole romance started with him teasing her and the next thing you know she's teasing him," said Debbie Allen, a co-ordinator at the Leacock Care Centre.

"Then they're holding hands and they come and say they're in love and want to get married.”

Standing beside Reynolds at the ceremony was her sister, Anna Smith. Smith called the couple's marriage a miracle.

"She was lonely, he was lonely," she said. "I mean I'm a widow myself and you are lonely, and it was precious to see the way the two of them came together," she added.

And while it may have been a long-time coming for Dawson, the couple proved that it is never too late to find true love.
