Inmates at a detention centre near Kingston, Ont. say there have been multiple overdoses in the jail in the past week.

Two inmates tell CTV News Ottawa that there were 10 overdoses this week that were fentanyl related. According to the inmates, heroin and marijuana laced with fentanyl has entered the detention centre.

A spokesperson for the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee, Ont. said that three inmates had been taken to hospital but would not elaborate citing privacy reasons.

Two corrections officers were also taken to the hospital and were treated and released.
