The next time you plan a vacation, there’s a little nation just east of Canada where the lobster is fresh, the snow is deep and the Atlantic Ocean is right at your doorstep.

Yes, Atlantic Canada is the country just next door to Canada, according to an advertisement from Air Canada.

The airline recently advertised a discount for “15% off your flight between Canada and Atlantic Canada,” which implicitly suggests the two are separate nations.

The advertisement went out by email and immediately touched off some snarky comments on Facebook and Twitter.

“Everyone knows after Montreal you leave Canada and then cross the border into Atlantic Canada,” wrote Stoo Metz on Facebook.

“Do I need a passport to travel from Atlantic Canada to Canada?” asked Christine Hope.

Facebook user Bonnie J. Poirier really heaped on the sarcasm. “OMG We beat out Quebec for separation rights!!!! LOL WTG Air Canada!” she wrote.

Air Canada typically shares its weekly deals as photos on Facebook and Twitter, but the botched Atlantic Canada ad is nowhere to be seen.
