A new track-focused, stripped out version of Ford's already fast and somewhat exclusive supercar is to make its global debut in Daytona this weekend.

The special edition car is bristling with weight-saving technologies so that it has an even lower center of gravity for even better handling at high speeds.

For example, it rides on carbon fiber wheels as standard, has an acrylic engine cover, and the partition window behind the driver is now made from super-thin yet super strong Gorilla Glass.

"The Competition Series was developed with the most hardcore track enthusiasts in mind, providing a tailored set of lightweight features," said Raj Nair, Ford executive vice president, global product development.

And the weight-saving efforts don't stop at clever use of plastics or carbon. Ford has also jettisoned every unnecessary creature comfort that comes on the standard car including cup holders, storage bins, speakers, air conditioning, the infotainment system and its screen.
