Mike Myers secretly got married five months ago.

The Canadian actor and his long-term girlfriend Kelly Tisdale tied the knot in a "beautiful" private ceremony in New York, his representative has confirmed.

The pair first started dating in 2006, soon after the 47-year-old funnyman split from his first wife Robin Ruzan after 12 years of marriage.

The pair were first revealed to be an item when they were spotted holidaying in Hawaii together.

Kelly -- who has previously dated dance star Moby -- confirmed their romance, saying: "We're actually surprised you didn't find out about us sooner."

Mike recently admitted he thinks he is similar to Shrek, the green ogre he voiced in four animated movies, because they are both "insecure".

Asked if he and his character have anything in common, he said: "Insecurity. I'm secure enough to admit I'm quite insecure. Growing up in Canada you feel like you walk amongst Americans, but you are slightly different. I think ogres feel slightly alienated."

The 47-year-old star will have more time to spend with his new bride now his work on the 'Shrek' franchise has completed.

He said: "I'm very grateful and appreciative and proud about being part of it. I'm also proud that it ended very gracefully. It just comes to an end so eloquently."
