How to make your own nut milk. Meghan Telpner, Nutritionist and author of the 'UnDiet,' shows us how to make milk from nuts and seeds.

  • 1 cup / 250 mL nuts and/or seeds of choice         
  • 4 cups / 1L water
  • 1 tsp / 5 mL vanilla extract                                      
  • 1 tbsp prepared Irish moss (optional, to thicken)
  • Raw honey, coconut nectar or maple syrup

Directions:

  1. Soak nuts and seeds in cold water for 2-6 hours, or overnight, then drain and rinse
  2. Place nuts and seeds in blender with water mix until smooth
  3. Pour mixture through strainer or nut sack and allow milk  to drain into bowl
  4. Rinse blender container and return milk to it. Add remaining ingredients, and blend until smooth
  5. Keep refrigerated for 3-4 days or until frozen in half-quart mason jars or ice cube trays for smoothies for 2-3 months
