One of the largest online wine retailers in the U.S. has released a list of its bestselling wines, with a California Pinot Noir emerging the most popular bottle of 2015.

After looking at the first 11 months of sales in 2015, Wine.com found the Meiomi 2013 Pinot Noir was the consumer favorite this year. It was also one of the fastest growing brands in the wine world.

While consumers on Wine.com give it 4.5 out of five stars, experts at Wine Spectator gave it a score of 92.

"Offers an exciting interplay of berry, oak, earth and spice notes. This is rich yet medium-weight, with subtle edges to the blueberry, raspberry, mocha and fresh-turned earth flavors, ending with a tasty melted black licorice aftertaste," reads the review.

The winemaker describes their wines as food-friendly, approachable and ready to drink upon release. They also provide ideas for the optimum Pinot Noir and cheese pairings that include the Point Reyes Blue cheese; Bellweather, San Andreas sheep's milk cheese; and Cypress Grove, Humboldt Fog goat's milk cheese from California.

Meiomi 2013, which means "coast" in the language of the native Wappo and Yuki tribes, retails for US$19.99 and is sold out on the website.

Another notable consumer favorite in 2015 was the Columbia Crest H3 Cabernet Sauvignon, which landed two spots on the top 10 list with its 2012 vintage taking the 10th spot, and the 2013 vintage eighth spot.
