After three brothers from Prince Edward Island got engaged to be married around the same time last year, they joked they should hold a group wedding.

Then they realized it made sense.

On Saturday, Stephen, David and Robert Desroches all said “I do” at a joint ceremony in their hometown of Summerside, P.E.I.

David Desroches, who married his longtime girlfriend Joan, said the planning process involved a lot of conference calls with all six of them on the phone at the same time.

“We’ve been waiting for this day to come for so long,” he said Saturday.

Stephen, who married his high school sweetheart Christine, said he’s glad they did it together.

“We all get along great, so it made for a beautiful day,” he said.

The three men now live in New Brunswick and Ontario, so the wedding was an opportunity to see their parents, Doris and Elmer, who recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

“We’re very proud of them,” Doris said of her sons. She called the wedding “one of the best days of our lives.”
