Every year some new rumours get rocket-launched from Canada's biggest block party. Here are some of the backstage secrets as the stars met the press after Sunday night's MuchMusic Video Awards. Read on for the final word on how The Jonas Brothers ended their night...

"We are just friends." That was the official word from 22-year-old Drake on his "relationship" with Rihanna.

Best known for playing Jimmy Brooks on the CTV series "Degrassi: The Next Generation," rumours of a romance has surrounded the pair ever since they reportedly shared a kiss at a New York City bowling alley.

"We've been doing some writing together. I think she is an amazing talent," says Drake, who was one of dozens of artists on hand to strut their stuff on stage and on the red carpet for adoring fans.

No, business rather than romance is where Drake tossed the spotlight for reporters, letting everyone know that he's been talking to actors Jamie Foxx and Will Smith about possibly working together after he wraps up the promotion on his album.

"I want to do pictures with integrity," Drake told the media throng that had converged in the exclusive MMVA press room.

"So You Think You Can Dance Canada's" Natalli Reznik used her press-room stop to dispel red-carpet rumours that she would soon join Michael Jackson's tour.

"I auditioned in L.A. along with 500 other people," she confirmed. "If they're expanding the show I'll get to go...But dancing in front of Michael Jackson was amazing."

Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas told reporters that she had no idea why their song "Boom Boom Pow" had hit such a nerve with audiences.

"We had no idea that it would go as mainstream as it did," she said after performing the powerful hit to screaming fans.

Fergie gave reporters her number one reason for working the MMVA show: The fans. "There's no organized seating. It's this pit. Everyone's out there. It's raw. It's great for performers."

Reality star Kim Kardashian revealed her fashion formula: "You've got to feel comfortable," said Kardashian, who was caught exiting her limo hoisting up the bust and back end of her body-conscious dress.

Another tip to fans: "Always go for classic styles." Thanks for that one Kim!

After cruising onto the red carpet on a shiny red motorcycle, five-time MMVA nominee Danny Fernandes revealed that his biggest thrill of the night was being "up against great competition." As Fernandes told reporters, "At least people are recognizing me."

Reality star Brody Jenner blithely told press that he wouldn't rule out a film career, as well as his feeling on his old-time bud Spencer Pratt. "Spencer is Spencer," said Brody. "You love him or hate him...But he knows what he's doing."

Canadian actress Rachelle Lefevre -- the best-dressed star of the night -- teased reporters about what may or may not happen in the next "Twilight" instalment.

"You may see more of me, you may not," Lefevre smiled coyly.

But if there was one thing most stars and performers gladly revealed it was this: They were all waiting to see Lady Gaga.

The eccentric 23-year-old gave the night's most outrageous performance on stage, opening her act in a replica of a New York City subway car before launching into a splashy, dance heavy rendition of "Love Game."

The platinum blond singer than "escaped" from dancers dressed as police officers and performed her hit single "Poker Face." Her performance culminated in fireworks sprouting from her metallic bra."

"I go all out for every performance...I give fans something they've really earned," Gaga said, arriving in the MMVA press room in a golden corset-dress and gold nails.

Picking up her first award, Lady Gaga said, "Canada is so special for me. Canada was my first number one record. My first boyfriend was from Toronto. Now my first award."

Only one other "event" could rival the stir caused by Lady Gaga: The arrival of the Jonas Brothers into the press digs.

Show co-hosts, the carefully coiffed brother opened the MMVAs with their hit, "Burnin' Up" outside of MuchMusic's headquarters on Toronto's Queen Street West. That Jonas Brothers' tune took home the "UR Fave" people's choice award for the international video of the year.

When asked by one reporter how he, too, could join music industry's hottest band the brothers laughed, "You've got to grow some eyebrows.

For this lucky reporter, who accidentally exited the building side-by-side with the brothers, one other thing about the pop stars was also clearly revealed on MMVA night: Their generosity.

Accompanied by handlers, the Jonas Brothers headed out onto the streets at the end of a long night to sign autographs for those fans not lucky enough to make into the show's impressive stage area.

Who says nice guys don't finish first?
