No injuries were reported after a fire caused an estimated $400,000 in damage to a Kitchener residence early Sunday morning. Kitchener Fire crews responded to a structure fire on Ahrens Street West at approximately 1:47 a.m. “The fire appears to have originated on the covered porch,” the city said in a statement. “All occupants were able to evacuate the home and were assessed by Waterloo Region [Emergency Medical Services]. Four fire crews responded and there were no injuries sustained.” The cause remains under investigation. A fire crew remained at the scene Sunday morning to secure the property while investigators examined the cause of the blaze. The Ontario Fire Marshal has not been called in and Waterloo Regional Police are not involved in the investigation.
