Following is a list of cool new camping gadgets shown by Canada AM's outdoors guru Kevin Callan on May 18, 2011:
Goal Zero -- solar power from interior camping to car camping/cottaging - keeps everything powered by the sun.
New SPOT Connect -- really cool technology to stay found out there and communicate with everyone back home. Connects by Bluetooth to your Smartphone
Minox 8x42 CWP monocular -- this thing is waterproof, includes a compass and a reticle, with which you can calculate distances, provided your math skills are A1.
I'm thinking this would be great for checking for portage and campsite blazes, and checking for clothes lines/tents/canoes etc at campsites without having to paddle half way across the lake.
Fenix LD10 flashlight - bright as hell, runs off of just 1 AA battery (alkaline or NiMH). Has different settings (soft presses/turn head - check the manual) for brighter output vs longer runtimes vs strobe. Included the multi attachments, and the camp lantern - beauty for reading/playing cards, etc.
Platypus Hydration Pack
Eureka Magic 185 lantern and Glide 51 light
Eureka Dual Temp 20/40 sleeping bag - two bags in one with new tech. synthetic insulation - very cool prod. for this year.
Eureka Air-rest lite mattress
Eureka camp chairs
Salus dog pfd
Northwater Spraydeck - Spraydeck made for your canoe to deal with heavy waves and big rapids
Sealine waterproof cases for ipod, e-readers....etc.
