Kesha is asking people to "boycott Canadian seafood" to save baby seals from being killed.

The "We R Who We R" singer has teamed up with Humane Society International to make a video revealing the plight of the marine mammals at the hands of Canadian fishermen and makes an emotional plea for people to do everything they can to end the slaughter.

In the video, she says: "Hi I'm Kesha, I'm working with Humane Society International to help stop the killing of baby seals. Every year thousands of baby seals are clubbed to death by Canadian fishermen. You can help by pledging to boycott Canadian seafood. Over the past six years people like you all over the world have signed on to that boycott. Together we can convince the Canadian government that's it's not in their best interest to continue to kill baby seals. You can help at humanesociety.org/seals"

The 25-year-old pop star's message is accompanied by footage of a fishermen killing a seal pup.

The killing of Seals is an issue close to Kesha's heart.

Last year, she posed in an advert for animal rights group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to bring attention to the annual slaughter of the baby mammals on the ice floes of Canada for their pelts.

Kesha was photographed along with an image of a seal pup accompanied by the slogan "Canada's Club Scene Sucks."
