The RCMP have charged a Nova Scotia Mountie with sexual assault. Investigators say they were dealing with an unrelated matter in July 2015, when information came forward about an alleged assault of a woman in Auburn, N.S., in 1995.
The RCMP will launch a new national effort to eliminate sexual misconduct in the workplace after an internal review criticized the police force's response to an "egregious" case involving nudity and harassment.
A federal labour bill excludes things like Mountie staffing levels and harassment issues from bargaining to ensure management can run the police force free of interference in key matters, says RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson.
