OTTAWA -- A national party supply retailer is recalling two glow-in-the-dark Halloween jewelry products because they contain unacceptable levels of a chemical that can be hazardous to children.

Health Canada says Party City is recalling the Fear Frenzy Ghoulish Glow Spider Beaded Necklace and Bracelet.

It says the products contain an amount of phthalates beyond the allowable limit.

Phthalates may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children if sucked or chewed for extended periods.

The products can be identified by model number HGLO-124 and UPC code 72295019229.

The regulator says approximately 52 units of the necklace and 31 of the bracelet were sold at Party City locations across Canada between Aug. 1 to Sept. 3.

Health Canada says consumers should stop using the recalled products and return them to their nearest Party City location for a full refund or store credit.

It says neither it or the party store has received any reports of any illnesses related to the products
