Whether creating a garden in your kitchen, backyard or several-acre plot, the Organic Gardening Planting Planner app for the iPhone offers plenty of helpful information. Use the app to create one or more virtual gardens complete with locations, then add plants. The app will tell you the best times for planting and harvesting based on your location's frost dates. It also features a calendar for garden journaling and to-do lists.

Green Eggs Shopper

If you feel like you waste food each week and want to do something about it, check out the Green Eggs Shopper app. This app allows you to set up "use by" and expiry dates of items as you shop so you may use them while they're fresh, which in turn helps you save money. It also lets you compare how much you spent on a previous shopping trip, provides reports on how much you spent in the past year, and includes a built-in item list to get you started.
