TORONTO - A 53-year-old employee of Citizenship and Immigration Canada is under arrest accused of trying to sell approvals permanent resident applications.
The RCMP says the arrest was made Wednesday during a raid on a Toronto residence.
George Gonsalves Barriero is facing three counts of breach of trust.
Investigators allege a Citizenship and Immigration Canada employee approached applicants offering to approve their permanent resident applications in exchange for money.
Regional director Lucille LeBlanc says Citizenship and Immigration Canada takes all allegations of employee misconduct very seriously.
LeBlanc says she has initiated a full internal investigation.
