LONDON - Whimsically titled travelogue "Strangers Have the Best Candy" has won Britain's quirky Diagram Prize for the year's oddest book title.
The self-published work by Margaret Meps Schulte beat finalists including "Advanced Pavement Research" and runner-up "Divorcing a Real Witch: For Pagans and the People Who Used to Love Them."
Schulte, who wrote about encounters with people she met travelling across the United States, said the title meant that "strangers can have gifts for us, if we take the time to talk with them." The Bookseller said Schulte's tome received 26.1 per cent of votes in an online ballot.
The Bookseller's Tom Tivnan said Friday he was relieved to see the return of "clean, wholesome fun" after recent winners including "How to Poo on a Date."
