A Pokemon GO player out to catch 'em all in his Mercedes wound up caught by police in the Toronto area, after officers in a helicopter spotted him driving erratically.

York Regional Police in a helicopter spotted the vehicle driving "suspiciously" in Vaughan, northwest of Toronto, on Monday. Police say the Mercedes driver was driving "erratically," making "suspicious turns" and stopping seemingly at random.

Helicopter video released by police shows the Mercedes swerving, driving up the centre of the road, driving on the wrong side of the road and stopping several times.

A police cruiser eventually stopped the Mercedes in a residential area.

The video shows an officer approaching the car to speak to the driver. Moments later, the officer returns to his own vehicle and says over the radio: "He was out catching Pokemon."

"Hopefully he got all his Pokemons," another officer says on the radio a few moments later.

Police say the driver received a "stern warning" about the dangers of distracted driving.

"York Regional Police would like to remind members of the public and players that any distraction while driving or walking on or near roadways can be hazardous," police said in a statement. "Citizens are urged to be aware of their surroundings and that large groups of people gathering in areas across our region could be Pokemon GO players."

The police statement also encourages Pokemon GO players to obey all road signs and "No Trespassing" signs.

Although there's no indication the driver was nodding off behind the wheel, he probably caught more than a few Drowzees. The Pokemon is rampant in the Toronto area.
