Upset fans are accusing Canadian singer Michael Buble of body-shaming after he photographed a young woman from behind and shared the photo on Instagram using the hashtag “baby got back.”

The image shows Buble standing to one side with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face, while a young woman stands in the background facing away from the camera, apparently unaware that a photo is being taken. She appears to be wearing tight-fitting athletic short-shorts.

“There’s something about this photo lu (wife Luisana Lopilato) took, that seemed worthy of Instagram,” Buble wrote in the caption. He included several hashtags with the post, including #myhumps, #babygotback, #hungryshorts and #beautifulbum.

The photo has received nearly 38,000 “likes” but also sparked outrage in the comments section. Some slammed Buble for “body shaming.” Others criticized him for objectifying women. Several people scolded him for taking a picture of a stranger without her consent.

“What an immature photo to take,” one user said.

“The Girl didn’t know it was being taken, didn’t know it would be posted and on top of all that she looks extremely young,” wrote another person. “Tho her Butt is covered up you don’t go around taking pictures of Strangers then post it.”

“Body shaming – gone down in my estimation MB,” one poster said.

Many others rose up to defend Buble for his post, pointing out the girl chose her own attire when she left the house that day.

“I think he just meant her butt was nice… No big deal,” said one defender.

Buble has not removed the post since it went up on Monday.
