TORONTO -- If there's something strange in your neighbourhood this summer, it might just be the beloved comedy "Ghostbusters" returning to theatre screens for a limited engagement.
The 30-year-old paranormal investigation blockbuster is being restored and remastered for a Labour Day weekend whisk through 700-plus theatres in the United States and Canada.
On Sept. 16, the film will be re-released in special anniversary editions on Blu-ray and DVD.
Special extras include conversations with Dan Aykroyd and director Ivan Reitman as well as new deleted scenes from "Ghostbusters II," which will makes its Blu-ray debut.
In addition, Ghostbusters.com launched Tuesday with the promise of new collectible merchandise, music and more.
The original film starred Bill Murray, Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as the titular, wise-cracking Ghostbusters, with Sigourney Weaver and Canadian Rick Moranis providing memorable supporting turns.
A third film in the series has been rumoured since the 1990s, with recent reports indicating that the project is still in search of a director.
