Emma Watson always puts her family first.

The 'Harry Potter' actress - who is set to complete her studies at Brown University in America following a year at Oxford University - insists her main priority will always be her loved ones, even if that means making career sacrifices.

She said: "Friends and family come first and work comes second, that's just how I live my life.

"I try to step away from the entertainment industry when I go and study - that gives me more time.

"I did my third year in Oxford, so that I could be around my family. Ultimately they're the priority. I don't put anything above them."

The 22-year-old beauty - who is in a relationship with student Will Adamowicz - admits her schoolwork helps her retain "perspective" about her career and appreciate being an actress is a "strange" thing.

She added in an interview with Britain's Marie Claire magazine: "I think having time to step away and study really, really helps.

"It helps to give me perspective on things, to be around people who are living their lives in different ways, who have different aspirations.

"It is a strange thing that I do and it can feel quite unnerving. It's good to remember that it's a bit mad."
