Canadian rapper Drake shocked unsuspecting Los Angeles residents this week after going undercover as a reporter and asking people what they really thought of him.

Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, donned a wig, beard, moustache and glasses for an "I Witness News" gag, which aired on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show Thursday night.

The segment came a day after it was announced that Drake would host the 2014 ESPY sports awards in July.

During the sketch, the disguised rapper asked residents a series of questions about how they felt about the star, based off of fake events that never happened.

Pedestrians, unaware of who they were talking to, responded with both positive and negative comments.

"Drake he's kind of an outstandish guy… he says that he came from the bottom, which most likely he didn't," one pedestrian said of Drake's hit single "Started from the bottom."

Another pedestrian flatly replied that he wasn't a fan of the Toronto native. "I'd say he's a chicken head," he said.

One street performer even went so far as to sing an impromptu song on his acoustic guitar slamming Drake.

As the sketch progressed, the star starts to tell some of pedestrians that he is Drake, which most seem to either not believe or not hear.

Eventually, he finally rips off his disguise while speaking to a fan, shocking the young supporter.

"Yes," Drake says, giving the fan a hug. "That just happened."

Drake tested his comedy skills earlier this year when he hosted Saturday Night Live. During the January appearance, Drake highlighted his Jewish and black background, kicking off the show with a humorous "flashback" to his Bar Mitzvah.

Before the 27-year-old embarked on a career in music, he had starred in the Canadian teen-drama "Degrassi: The Next Generation."
