AACHEN, Germany -- German doctors treating the Bolshoi ballet chief's wounds from an acid attack say they are hopeful he will eventually recover enough of his eyesight to work again.

Dr. Martin Hermel, a surgeon at the Aachen University Clinic, said Friday that Sergei Filin will probably get enough of his vision back to allow him to return to his professional duties.

Filin was attacked in January by a masked man who splashed sulfuric acid onto his skin, leaving him with burns on his eyes and face.

Bolshoi dancer Pavel Dmitrichenko has been arrested on suspicion of organizing the attack. Dmitrichenko told a Moscow court he never intended for it to cause such harm to Filin.
