TORONTO-- Just a few days after declaring he needed to "slam on the breaks" because he was feeling "pretty miserable," Deadmau5 has announced a new album.
The 31-year-old electronic music producer from Niagara Falls, Ont., will release "> album title goes here <" on Sept. 25.
Following his collaboration with the Foo Fighters at the Grammy Awards this year, the 13-track collection finds Deadmau5 -- whose real name is Joel Zimmerman -- dipping his toes into rock once again, with My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way singing on lead single "Professional Griefers"
Other confirmed guests for the album include Grammy-winning British singer Imogen Heap, West Coast hip hop legends Cypress Hill and Chris James.
Many of the songs have been available online already as rough edits.
Over the weekend, Zimmerman nabbed headlines by writing a blog post explaining that he needed to "unplug for a wee bit" and "force (himself) to endure some quiet time."
"I got a lot of work to do on some stuff," he wrote. "So, best I just chill ... out a bit and just get it done, and get it done RIGHT, until I'm 100 per cent satisfied with it. Then our regularly scheduled program shall continue."
Still, Zimmerman, who recently ranked sixth on Forbes' list of the world's highest-paid DJs with earnings of $11.5 million, did acknowledge even then that he'd have something new for fans soon.
