Chrissy Teigen "cried like a baby" when she found out she was on the 2014 cover of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue.

The model graces the front of U.S. magazine's most popular annual issue alongside models Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge.

She was apparently overwhelmed when she found out she had been picked for the honour.

Her husband, singer John Legend, told 'Good Morning America' that "she was so excited, and it was a surprise because you never know who's going to be on the cover. These are all beautiful women.

"She's been in the issue for several years now, and every year it's been someone else. And this year it's her. We're very excited about it."

Teigen took to Twitter to express her excitement, writing: "I mean what else is there to say. I just cannot believe it. What an honor. Never, ever, ever have felt this kind of pure joy. Crazy crazy."

The girls were told they had made the cover during an interview with the Sports Illustrated team, which left them all visibly shocked and excited.

Aldridge later tweeted: "Feeling so blessed to be on this iconic @si_swimsuit Sports illustrated cover with these beauties."

Writing as the cover was publicly revealed on Friday, Agdal said: "I just woke up. Its real. Wow."
